Where can I obtain EPSON Cash Registers, Printers and Supplies?
EPSON does not sell Hardware directly, but uses Distributors/Dealers.
The Cash Registers with appropriate software can be obtained from our Software Partner.

Where can I find a Driver for my EPSON TM-XXX Printer?
All available drivers for TM Printers can be obtained from our Download Site: https://www.epson-pos.com/sdssm/td_index.html

How can I test my TM-XXX printer? (printer self-test)
The majority of TM printers can run a so-called self-test. To run this test the printer must be switched on with the paper feeder button pressed down. In normal cases a sales slip will be printed out with the settings on it and then cut off (if a paper cutter is fitted). Press the paper feeder button once again or switch the printer on and off to return it to normal operation.

I want to have the ESC-Sequences for a TM-XXX. Where can I get them?
The important sequences are described in this ESC/POS manual.
Seldom used ESC sequences for a specific TM model are available from Epson Germany. Please send an email to rsd.info@epson.de giving the details of your printer model (TM-xxx)

The most used sequences can be found in the following answer:

The ESC-Sequences "Drawer Open" and "Cut Receipt"?
(1) Drawer Open: ESC p m t1 t2;
e. g. Chr(&H1B) + "p" + Chr(&H0) + Chr(&H64) + Chr(&H64)

(2) Cut Receipt: GS V m
e. g. Chr(&H1D) + "V" + Chr(&H0)

How should I connect an EPSON TM-XXX to the Serial Port? Important is to use a so called "Null Modem Cable" or "Cross Cable". Ready-made Cable for Serial Connection can be bought at your computer store. Please check that the same parameters (Baud-Rate, Parity, Number of Data Bits, Handshake) are set on both Cash Register / PC, Printer and Customer Display. Trouble with Serial Communication can have many causes, the two most often found are:

1. The serial cable connection
A wrong cable connection can be seen by the user if the printer – especially when printing out a long piece of text or when printing graphics – partially looses the data or the output from the printer suddenly looses the format.
In many cases this is caused by using the wrong serial cable. A serial cable must be connected up via the so-called null modem cable. Otherwise the necessary timing signal between the PC and the printer will not be exchanged and the state described above is caused by buffer overflow.
The null modem cable is a serial cable with crossed signal lines, when the correct assignment for the input and output signals to the PC and the printer are made. You will find the cable connection that has to be made between the PC and the printer in the connection diagrams shown below.

2. The transfer parameters
As the transfer takes place within a fixed framework, the transmission parameters for both the sender (PC) and receiver (printer) need to have the same settings or values (Baud rate, start and stop bit, data word length, parity, type of protocol). This can be achieved in two ways:
a) You check in the printer self-test which of the current settings for the printer's transmission parameters are the default settings and use these values or settings when configuring the relevant COM interface on your PC.
b) Alternatively, you can also use your PC settings for the printer. For this you will need to set the DIP-switch according to the information in the printer manual.

Note : The new DIP switch setting will not be recognised by the printer's firmware until the printer is switched on again.

Printer:

Parallel is LPT (25 pin, purple)

How to connect a Cash Drawer to a TM Printer?
All EPSON POS Printers have a special port (DKD = Drawer Kick out Device) to connect up to two drawers. To realise a drawer connection do consider two points:

- Connection

Consider correct PIN layout, the PIN Layout from your drawer can be obtained from your dealer.

- Software Control: ESC p m t1 t2;
e. g. Chr(&H1B) + "p" + Chr(&H0) + Chr(&H64) + Chr(&H64)
For the software control (open the drawer and check the status, your printer has several possibilities. Detailed information can also be obtained from your dealer.

How to connect a DM-D Customer Display to a TM Printer?
EPSON generally offers two possibilities. The Customer displays DM-D203, -D206, -D210BB/BC and DM-D102, -D106, -D110BB/BC/BD connect "directly" to the printer or IR/SR/MR. Connection cable is included and fixed to the display.

When connecting the stand-alone customer displays DM-D20211, DM-D205, DM-D210BA and DM-D101II, DM-D105, and DM-D110BA it is important that you use a so-called serial "zero-modem cable" for connecting the system to the printer (pass through). Contact your Epson dealer for a ready-to-use cable for serial connections. With this procedure the mains adapter for the DM-D (e.g. PS-170/180) also supplys the printer with power.

You need to make absolutely sure that the transmission parameters (Baud rate, transmission mode, number of data bits) are the same for the POS system / PC, customer display and printer.

How to 'speed up' my TM-TXX under Windows?
The TM-TXX can under Windows use both Windows Fonts and Printer Internal Fonts. Windows Fonts have to be transferred pixel by pixel. When using Internal Fonts (indicated with CPI) less data has to be transferred, so printing will be much faster.

When should I change the Ink Ribbon of my POS Printer?
EPSON Ink Ribbons are made for High Performance. Because of the high quality it is no problem to use it over the specified time. Reduced intensity however is an indication to change the ribbon and will also enlarge the life of your print head. Further information can be found under: POS Consumables.

I suspect my EPSON POS Product is defect. What can I do?
With TM Printers you have the possibility to do a Self Test. To perform a Self Test press the FEED button while switching on your printer. A Self Test receipt will be issued. If the Self Test can not be performed correctly, please contact your Distributor/Dealer.
Also you can send your product to the following address for inspection and repair.
Please enclose a clear problem description.

How do reduce the Ink consumption of my EPSON TM-J8000?
The TM-J8000 has 2 On/Off Switches. If the printer is disconnected from mains, (e.g. with a switched socket, a supply via PC or ist switch on the back) it will clean the print head every time you power on, which will reduce the ink in the cartridge. Therefor only use the front switch to power off and on. This will put the print head in park position and close the ink system. It is sufficient to power on one time a day, using the front switch. ( For the correct procedure switching in another way, see the appendix of the manual.)

How can I use French/German characters with my Card Reader (MSR)?
To get French or German characters correctly from your Card Reader, a French or German Key Table should be loaded (compare Keyboard tables)
In DOS-Mode make the one-time entry:

PKMODE2 Keytbl= GRKEY.TBL (German) PKMODE2 Keytbl= FRKEY.TBL (France)

My IR/SR Touch-Screen does not react. What can that be?

IR/SR: Is the correct driver loaded?
10.4" Panels need a 'GUNZE' driver,
10.4" & 12.1" Panels need a Fujitsu or EPSON driver.
Is the IRQ and I/O Address set correctly in the Driver and in the BIOS?
  COM4: IRQ = 10; I/O Address = 2E8
Has the Panel a Touch function? (DM-LR104-022 has no Touch function)

MR-800: Have you loaded the correct driver?
12.1" TFT panels require a GUNZE driver,
15" TFT panels require a ELO driver,
The touchscreen should be connected to COM1 or COM2.

Your EPSON Dealer can provide you with a Test-Diskette, to test the Touch function independent from your software and Operating System.
