Meerbusch, February 2006. Epson now launches its fourth generation of the powerful thermal printer from the innumerable times tried and tested Epson TM-T88 range for the POS. The Epson TM-T88IV impresses in particular through high print speed and utmost reliability like its predecessor. Its ergonomic design and function have been consistently advanced. Not only does it convince with its incredibly fast graphic prints of 200 mm/s, but also makes waiting a thing of the past. The 2-colour thermal print is also an innovative function: Hence, reproduction of the company logo as watermark or indication for special promotions on the receipt opens new horizons.

The Epson TM-T88IV featuring a myriad of innovations is fully compatible with its direct predecessor Epson TM-T88III. It enables easy switch to the state-of-the-art generation of the thermal receipt prints. Established features such as one-hand replacement of the paper roll thanks to the drop-in method are maintained and supplement the Epson TM-T88IV with innovations such as an even smoother housing. The result is an increased spray resistant device – exceptional now and for years to come.

TM-T88IV – Advanced excellence

Thanks to the consistent advancement of the successful range the Epson TM-T88IV convinces in all areas. The print speed has been increased compared to its predecessor. With 200 mm/s it surpasses all its competitors featuring all the credentials to be top of the class – including text, 1D or 2D barcodes as well as graphics. Another outstanding highlight of the TM-T88IV is the 2-colour printing. Moreover, an automatic receipt cutter – needless to say that cutting edges are neat.

The design of the Epson TM-T88IV has also been modified. Minimized lines in the housing ensure enhanced protection against fluids and easier cleaning. These outstanding features as well as the optional buzzer for the kitchen will be highly appreciated by caterers. Moreover, the cable cover as well as the space required for paper replacement was minimized. Thus, the Epson TM-T88IV is ideally suitable even for small counters. Epson also offers an optional cover for integration of the power supply in the printer without enlarging the footprint.

Although the design of the newcomer features many innovations, its exterior is visibly similar to its predecessor. Smooth switch to the state-of-the-art receipt printer generation is ensured thanks to its compatibility with the predecessor. The Epson TM-T88IV can be easily integrated to existing networks due to exchangeable interfaces.

Evolution means adaptation

Utilising tried and tested technologies to create enhanced innovations are the core competences in development – also in the Epson TM-T88 evolution. In times of increasing costs, innovations have to face the challenges. The new receipt printer pursues different requirements to meet the increasing cost pressure.

1. Low Power Mode
The Epson TM-T88IV features an energy saving mode coupled with low energy costs. The simple and established DIP switch enables the user to switch to energy mode allowing total cost control and minimizing of energy costs.

2. Maintenance Counter Function
The ”Maintenance Counter Function“ monitors the operation of the device. Line feeds, cuts and lifetime are thus transparent enabling users to check at any time which cash register is most frequently used or requires cleaning. This reduces maintenance costs and saves time. 

3. Solid construction
Dealers increasingly recognise the significance of the total product costs over the complete lifetime. The TM-T88IV has been advanced for the tough POS environment– a true bargain thanks to its extremely high durability.
