Epson RC170/RC180: the slave control system

The RC170/RC180 Controller is the starter model in a range of new, compact robot controllers designed to round off the product range for stand-alone controllers.

This new controller is especially compact and even the 6-axis version has only a volume of just under 12 l and weighs 9 kg. This makes it the smallest 6-axis controller available in the market.
Another advantage is the many different ways it can be mounted. Whether wall, ceiling, rack, horizontal or vertical floor mountings, there are the perfect fixing bars available for all configurations.

A lot of innovation in the smallest of space:

Small but powerful!
This controller opens the door to a new generation of Epson robot controllers . Unlike its bigger brothers, the Epson RC420 and Epson RC520, the RC170/RC180 does not have an integrated hard drive. The standard integrated flash memory is enough to store up to 200,000 lines of program code and 1,000 points.
Alongside its compact dimensions, this new product is also highly diverse. The controller can be configured in a total of 5 different mountings – there is space for this controller even in the smallest of places.
It is fitted with two additional motor drivers and can still control Epson 6-axis robots as well as Epson SCARA robots.

This new controller is mainly designed to operate in a stand-alone solution for smaller robot cells, or e.g. as a slave within a field bus network.

Accessories Galore
Alongside a field bus slave option (optionally Profibus/DeviceNet) the new controller also has standard I/O expandability with up to 128 input/output channels. The number of RS232C interfaces can also be expanded up to 8.

Outward appearances Teaching and operating have been completely redesigned. The newly designed teaching pendant with its superb graphics display is not only suitable for teaching SCARA and 6-axis robots, but also provides convenient access to all robot functions.

The new operating pendant is available as an external operating unit for the controller. Like the controller, the new operating pendant opens up all kinds of opportunities in the smallest of spaces.
